Imagination and the Way of Christ

I'm reading Robert Inchausti's Subversive Orthodoxy with our two Missio Dei apprentices. Sadly, this gem of a book has been largely ignored. The author delves into the thought of a number of subversive thinkers within Christianity to awaken his readers' prophetic imagination. The usual suspe… Continue

Thanks for the willingness to be interested! I'll work on answering the various questions and get back to you this month of March. Just wanted to get on your 'geographic-radar' sooner than later. Flavio

Mark, just noticed I never responded to your welcome. Thanks man. Hope Common Root 2009 was a beautiful event. We love Oakland, although I think in some ways we're still adjusting to a completely different culture as compared to San Francisco. We're in the beginning stages of starting a community here...

Thank you, Mark! I'm tentatively starting to get back into some online discussion again, though on a limited basis until we get broadband hooked up at the apartment. Right now I just get online at work, on campus, and at coffee shops, so my ability to participate is extremely limited. You may have noticed I've started blogging more regularly again, but that's about the extent of it so far. I'm really looking forward to talking to some more people around here though, as much as I dig Jesus Manifesto I think this is more of what I need right now (not that when I have more regular online time I won't still occasionally submit articles for JM).

How have you been lately? Since I dropped off the face of the internet planet I haven't really been able to keep up.

Shalom!

Thanks Mark. I will check John and the center out. Much appreciated.
Oh, I just became aware of Subversive Orthodoxy through Geez magazine. Looks like a great book. Thanks for the comments on it.

Mark,

My wife is looking for a spiritual director for her sister-in-law, who lives in Minneapolis. My sister-in-law is a 30 year artist, who is currently struggling to find meaningful work. She and her husband just moved to Minne in the last year. Any suggestions?

Hey Mark. We are a group of St. Louis families (three couples, eight kids among us) and we have been bitten by the intentional community bug. We've been meeting together and talking for more than a year, developing our rule and committment and discipling one another and now are in the process of relocating to a high-poverty, high-diversity, high-immigrant area in STL. I think, based on the other communities we are in contact with, that several established families coming together is possibly uncharted territory? We've really appreciated the Breviary and learning from Missio Dei's rule - glad to be joining the conversation here.

No not at all! Like I said, the gathering was inspiring to me. I left there feeling like you guys were doing just what the church needs to do when it gathers. the elements of your gathering seem to be what are necessary for the church to be reminded of who she is, and to encourage faithfulness to the way of life Jesus demonstrated for us.

I took off early because i had to be at work! I work with the resonate ministry at woodland hills and over the summer we had leadership meetings almost every sunday afternoon.

I would be super interested in taking a closer look at your guys' community, though. I would hope that there's a lot for us to learn from you guys.

awesome. I'll have to be more careful about what I post on there! : )

yeah seth told me that he's been in conversation with other mennonite pastors in the twin cities. that probably is how you heard of us.

I came to one of Missio Dei's Sunday gatherings over the summer. I think it was the last week you guys met in the people's center. The experience was challenging and inspiring. I am grateful for the way of life your community demonstrates.
