A prayer of confession on the sixth anniversary of the Iraq invasion

Here's the prayer, written in the spirit of Lent.

my apologies for the above in response to a prayer.

Call it more of a confession, if you will.

For Lord we are not wise and do not know what we can and cannot change in this world, but we do wish to deliberate and point apart from ourselves towards you with the whole of our lives and this entails dissent against top-down political-economic machinations.

I'm still in transition on my views due to my ongoing dialogue w. anabaptists et al., but at the time I was in MX and wasn't opposed to the idea of removing Hussein from office, just the shortness of the timeline and how military action against Iraq would hamper things in Afghanistan.

So I thought there was time to work the system and gather intelligence against Hussein as he was a dastardly local bully but not of Al Quaeda's ilk.

iow, I am full for dissenting from patriotic manipulations that we did fall easily into, but there's nothing wrong with debate and pacifism doesn't seem to brook that, it seems to presume that it has cornered what Jesus would do.
